Abstract
This is a brief overview of the tools the nervous systems uses to transmit information, ranging from small currents provided by ion channels in cell membranes to specialized contacts between neurons to diverse types of circuits. This is intended to be an informative session of what we know about the brain, but a major goal of this is to also provide a sense that there is soooo much we do not know.
